Well, it’s been a long time since I updated my blog but there is no time like the present right…? To clear up some confustion, I am currently living in the Philadelphia area. Between moving and starting school again things have been super crazy. I am going to the Paul Mitchell school so I can add hair services to my repetoire and have even more to offer my wonderful guests and clients.

In the meantime, I have still been working for the amazing Bobbi Brown whom I did have the pleasure to meet and work with a few months back. I will soon be working at QVC as well and look forward to meeting an array of brand new interesting personalities and celebrities.

Thanks for reading and keep checking back for updates. Lots of new and exciting projects are on the horizon…

Look Swimwear Shoot

•July 6, 2010 • 1 Comment

Well, been super busy around here. I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th. I wanted to check in and let you know about a fun shoot I did last weekend with Stan Badz…he’s the official photographer for the PGA Tour and also does fashion, wedding, and editorial. We headed out early to Little Talbot Island and met Lauren (a fitness model) to do makeup. We started her makeup while we waited for the Ferry and finished it up quickly outside once we got to the location. We drove as far as we could…headed down the windy path with our gear and shot some amazing pics in the drfitwood and old dead trees. Luckily we got some great shots before I reached over to touch up our gorgeous model, and tripped over a huge low lying branch and literally gashed open my leg. I was in a little bit of shock when I looked down and saw the huge pool of red that was once my foot. Luckily Stan had a towel and I had tape in my trusty tool belt in so we taped me up and I limped the long way back to the car. Eventually the Ferry came and we dropped the model off and Stan took me to the ER to meet my hubby there. I got six stictches…was quite a trooper I must say and the rest is photo shoot history. That was definately the most excitement I’ve personally ever had on location. Stay tuned I’ll post some pics (of the shoot) asap!

Other than that…lots of wedding consultations coming up for next year. Still trying to decide how to get in all the required parental visits at the end of summer and be here for all of my gorgeous brides and events coming up. If anyone knows how to be in two places at once please let me know! I just love love love doing makeup so much I hate to miss any of it.

Night shooting experiment with Corrinna Hoffman

•May 23, 2010 • 1 Comment

Corrinna Hoffman and I have been wanting to work together again for a while. She planned a night shoot at Friendship Fountain downtown. The three models turned up on the rainy evening and we found out they were only high school girls. We got some good shots though and it was fun to kick up the makeup a notch and really play. The water and makeup together created some cool smokey smudgy lines. Here are some of my faves.

Jacksonville Magazine Cover Model Contest Fashion Show

I had the privelege of working with three lovely models recently for Jacksonville Magazine’s 2010 Cover Model Fashion Show contest. The girls were all wonderful and gorgeous. I did Tiffany’s, Allie’s makeup and had the pleasure of working with Lauren again. It’s been a long time since I did a photo shoot with Lauren. She is always so professional and beautiful!

Thanks girls and Jacksonville Mag as well as my favorite makeup artist friend Kimtasha!

Celia’s Bridal Consultation

I met the beautiful Celia at the Premier Bridal Show a few weeks ago and we bonded instantly. She hadn’t really been thinking of hiring a makeup artist but when she saw my booth she came over and we started chatting. I knew immediately I wanted to work with her. When she came for her consultation I was careful to preserve her soft natural look while giving her eyes the nice pop she was going for. We are looking forward to her big day!

Met some of the boys from Celtic Thunder

•February 28, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Last Sunday a couple of the boys from Celtic Thunder Paul Byrom and Damian McGinty took some time out of their busy schedules to come to Florida to film some Pledge breaks at our local WJCT PBS station. Both boys were adorable and very sweet. They were happy to be in the warm South as opposed to the freezing Ireland temps this time of year. I loved listening to them warm up in the green room preparing for their live performances!

Damian was very gracious in the makeup chair and thanked me every time I touched him up and powdered him. I just wish I knew what cologne Paul was wearing…he smelled sooooo yummy :)

Let’s chat about Foundation on your Wedding Day!

On your special day, it is super important to use a professional makeup artist that understands the ingredients and undertones of foundation. Too often, I see women’s pictures in which the skin looks washed out or too ashy. This problem occurs when you use foundations from department stores or drugstores with Titanium of Zinc Oxides. These ingredients are sunscreens, they are find and actually good to use in your every day foundation and makeup but when you are having flash photography, it is super important for your skin to be matte and not reflect light where you don’t want it to.

I explain it like you are taking a picture of aluminum foil, the metal would bounce the light right back instead of absorbing it and create what we call a “Flash Off.” I hope this is helpful to you. HD foundations are coming out that are fantastic and I have been using a brand for years that is specifically made for film and television. When you are paying all that money for photography, you want to make sure the pictures come out amazing!
